If they have to prove that they have done what they are supposed to before they are allowed to work on other things then it's harder for them to neglect things. Naturally the viability of this varies with the environment (i.e. it's easier with pre-college/pre-uni environments). The time taken to check students' work would have to be factored into lesson time as well.
Mar 20, 2018 at 14:39 comment added Buffy While I generally agree, the issue really only becomes a problem when students neglect what they are meant to do, rather than when they want to go beyond the requirements. Of course, spending too much time on ephemera is a problem in its own right.
