Space travel improvements like those in your comment will be brought about by unpredictable, revolutionary changes in propulsion, not by steady, evolutionary improvements like computers have enjoyed.

Aug 8, 2017 at 22:53 | comment | added | 8bittree | @freedomn-m So, faster-than-light transportation technology is going to be invented within the next 35 years? Travel time in space has not experienced regular massive improvements like processor performance has. It took months to reach Mars in the 70s, it takes months to reach Mars today.

Aug 8, 2017 at 10:31 | comment | added | Lee F | @freedomn-m this assumes that there will be a civilization capable of building an interstellar craft in 35 years time, so in this case it might be favourable to launch a craft now and get there in 40 years :)
Aug 7, 2017 at 16:28 | comment | added | fdomn-m | And this is why we don't have interstellar craft (well, one reason...) - the same principle: if we left today and it took 40 years to get there, we could instead leave in 35 years time and it only take 3 years to get there.
