Operating systems control hardware in complex ways. Most undergraduate programs have at least one course in operating system principles. Other courses may need to introduce some significant information about operating systems. This tag is appropriate for all such questions. It is not, however, appropriate for theoretical questions or for questions comparing operating systems other than as it would apply to the teaching process.
