Used for questions about Information Technology, a more general term than Computer Science and often focused on business and commercial applications rather than theory. This tag is for questions on teaching IT concepts, especially as they relate to Computer Science.

Information Technology (IT) is a general term that is used often to describe business and commercial operations that use computing in some form. It is often how the products of Computer Science are applied in the real world. Historically, Computer Science focused originally on the computers themselves and later on software. On the other hand IT focused on organizational processes that use information. These processes have existed since before computers, though have been strongly influenced by computing since about 1950. IBM, for example made equipment (unit-record equipment) that predates computers.
