Diversity Gap refers to the fact that in some countries with a diverse population, such as the US, certain groups, especially minorities, but also women, are not represented equally in CS education, nor in the workplace. Use this tag for questions relating to how educators can overcome this gap.

Women and minorities are not well represented in CS and other technical fields in the US and in some other countries. It isn't universal, however. While some may believe that this is due to some inherent trait, there is no evidence of this and a lot of contrary evidence. Anyone can succeed in any field if given a proper (welcoming and supportive) environment. The problem is serious and long-standing in the US. It is also, unfortunately, self enforcing.
